DIY : Homemade Frankincense & Chamomile Soap
This was my first time making soap and the turned out amazing! I think this is the start to a b-e-a-utiful relationship! I started off using an olive-oil soap base , which just gives it more of a lather . For those of you who are beginners like me , Frankincense has a sweet and warm scent. It kind of smiles like many Aveda products , which I LOVE. It is said to have comforting properties that help focus the mind and overcome stress . Most of you know that Chamomile is calming , what you don't know is that it's anti-bacterial , and anti-allergen as well. Other than that all I added into to soap was coloring dye and Hempseed oil, which acts as a moisturizer . Hopefully this will help me focus during my finals this week, pshhh yeah right.
DIY: Vanilla Spiced Mulberry exfoliating soap
First of all ; how fricken cute is this ! It smells amazing , and the best part is that it is infused with pumice to exfoliate. There is two different types of soap here, the jello- ish one is made from a clear soap base , which gives it a transparent look. The second one is made with a regular soap base , and infused with jojoba oil. Both soaps contain Vanilla oil fragrance , and spiced mulberry which smells rich , sweet and is a total berry-delight! I bought these fragrances online at www.fssoapworks.com, they're pretty easy to get a hold of and you can make some really great smelling soaps! People will be impressed!
DIY: Knit sashay scarf
This is by far my favorite scarf I have ever made. It was super easy , and it barely took any time to make. I bought the yarn at Joann's Fabics it's just called "sashay" and I used a US 9 knitting needle (nothing fancy here). Anyways I think i'm going to go buy this in EVERY color now so don't be surprised if I upload the crap out of scarves. If anyone has any questions just let me know , I'm thinking about posting a tutorial on how to cast on and how to stitch.
Va-Va-Voom Heels
So, I did this project one day because I was trying to find ways to procrastinate on my homework. I have about 12 pairs of plain black heels so I just took an old pair that need some sprucing up. I bought Mod Podge and glitter from Michaels craft store and went to town glitterizing! I basically just put painters tape on the bottom, heel and hardware of the shoe to keep it plain. I then used a paint brush to apply the mod podge and then I coated in glitter, let dry and then sprayed it with scotch guard so the glitter would stick. Voila ! New ridiculously sparkly heels!
Hey!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use for molds and where did you find them?
Also, is this an expensive process or does it get cheaper in the future as you gather materials/products?
Thanks,
Taylor :)
Hey Taylor ! It definitely gets cheaper as you gather the products. You can find molds anywhere and you can even use cooking molds too. I only use plastic molds, because it is easiest to take the soap out once dried. The molds i used for these soaps I found at Joann's fabrics and I think they were like $5, and of course they're all re-usable too!
ReplyDeleteI think they even make beginners kits, I myself don't use them , but that would be a good way to start learning and gathering all of the products.
